I went out one muggy summer day and did a watercolor, but... i think it started dying when I started putting in the color! perspective. kills. and the worst part were the trees cause they all just looked like they were melding into each other, from where I was sitting. I tried to think of them as shapes of values, but it was hard to, even with the squinting.
I'd really appreciate a critique on this sad little picture :{ or some advice for the next time I try again thanks ya'll
Well, I can't give any advice, because I have no idea about watercolors (^^u). Anyway, I think it's nice. A bit confusing, especially if you look the full view picture. And yes, the trees seem weird. And... it looks like a calm street.

I'm not exactly an expert so I can't really give much critique, I just think it looks really amazing. the colours seem like dabs of abstract accents instead of 100% realistic on a brilliant sketch with good perspective and that gives it its own charm. Hope that makes sense...

I love the feeling this painting gives. Calming and makes me feel like going out have some sunshine. Great job. I cannot see what's wrong with the perspective by the way
aw gee thanks! it was sunny out, felt like nap sunshine. it just bothers me to keep perspective on my conscious, but hopefully it'll soon be an automatic thing
Hey KEKUNI!! Gosh, I haven't been on deviant art for 5 years now...whoa. But for a friend, I'll help...just want to point out the perspective problem, which I never got to during our conversation.
Learn to spin the sketchpad...and try to prefect drawing straight lines, which is something you can learn from looking at industrial designers ie scott robertson.
There are some issues with perspective, but for a sketch, you don't want to be thinking about technical stuff...Technical stuff only comes when u start making an illustration. But yes, do take notice of perspective problems on the go..it'll help in the long run.
For Technical problems..the left groundside is going off or higher than the vanishing point. Watch out for your ellipse also...just keep practicing ur perspective....
Next time when doing these....be bolder with the watercolor...meaning work faster, let loose, and don't worry too much about the outcome....for every 1 good piece, there will be 10 or so bad ones...so don't let it get into ur head. Just keep practicing, and consistency will come with it.
Keep up the good work. And like I said a lovely piece! Freakin Kickass!!

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
